The Alpina group produces charming bell shaped flowers, which range from white, through shades of blue and pink, to purple. They are extremely hardy, and will cope with the harshest of winter whether, producing a wealth of flowers early in the year: a welcome attraction for any garden.
Macropetals have a deceptively delicate appearance...however, they are really very tough plants. Possessing similar characteristics to Alpinas, the most marked difference in their appearance is the layered structure of their petals.
Texensis: Flowers shaped like lily-flowered tulips are produced from mid-summer to early autumn. For most of the varieties these flowers hold themselves erect and point skyward (apart from the nodding bell shaped flowers of Etoile Rose). Their compact nature makes them ideal for containers, as well as companion planting
